Berke Honored for Trauma-Informed Work at State-Level

NCFR member Debra L. Berke, Ph.D., CFLE, professor and director of psychology programs at Wilmington University, was honored at the Delaware governor's mansion in May, along with her colleague Rebecca M. Ghabour, Ph.D., associate professor of psychology and chair of the psychology program at Wilmington University.
Dr. Berke and Dr. Ghabour each received the Compassionate Champion Award for their work in helping to develop Delaware as a trauma-informed state by training three divisions of the Delaware Department of Health and Social Services in trauma-informed approaches.
Trauma-informed practices are increasingly prevalent in social work, counseling, and family therapy, due to a growing awareness of the negative outcomes of trauma in children and adults.
Dr. Berke and Dr. Ghabour presented an NCFR webinar on Trauma-Informed Educational Practices (TIEPs) in Higher Education earlier this year. This recording is available for purchase to watch on demand and for use in the classroom. Learn more.
