Bridget A. Walsh, Ph.D., CFLE, is the recipient of the 2016 Certified Family Life Educator (CFLE) Special Recognition Award, presented at the CFLE Reception at the 2016 NCFR Annual Conference in Minneapolis. Dr. Walsh is an associate professor in the Human Development and Family Studies program at the University of Nevada, Reno. She was recognized for her outreach and promotion of the CFLE credential on campus and in the community and for her efforts in promoting a family life education approach to home visiting.

The CFLE Special Recognition Award is given for outstanding and dedicated service to the CFLE program administered by NCFR. The CFLE designation recognizes professionals in the family life education field as qualified family life educators; more than 1,500 professionals are active CFLEs.

The CFLE credential denotes proven knowledge in 10 Family Life Content Areas: Families and Individuals in Societal Contexts; Internal Family Dynamics; Human Growth and Development across the Lifespan; Human Sexuality; Interpersonal Relationships; Family Resource Management; Parent Education and Guidance; Family Law and Public Policy; Professional Ethic and Practice; and Family Life Education.

CFLEs work in a variety of settings, including family service agencies, mental health centers, colleges and universities, secondary and elementary schools, family planning agencies, health-care facilities, corporations, early childhood and preschools, faith communities, private practices, and more.
