Call for Articles: ‘Family Life Education and Home Visiting’

CFLE Network, a quarterly newsletter published for Certified Family Life Educators, is a resource filled with information about Family Life Education. For the winter 2018 issue, the editors seek authors who can share information, stories, research, and resources relevant to home visiting.

We are in a time of unprecedented support for home visiting and a pronounced appetite for professionalization of home visitors. Home visiting has bipartisan support given the emphasis on evidence-based programs and return on investment (Harrison & May, 2018). With increased investments and interests, the need for family-centered services and a clear scope of practice for home visitors remains. Little attention has been given explicitly to the role of Family Life Education (FLE) and certification in home visiting (c.f., Machir, 2014; Petkus, 2015) but its principles and ideas are present in the home visiting field even if not given full recognition by directors and other stakeholders.

Please consider contributing an article about:

  • Your professional experience(s) in eliciting stakeholder input in home visiting ideas
  • Promoting family engagement in home visiting
  • Ideas for proactive adaptation of Parents as Teachers (PAT) to include FLE principles
  • How your CFLE-approved program incorporates home visiting into the curriculum

The editors are especially interested in a CFLE author who can provide a snapshot of how Family Life Education is carried out in their daily work life of conducting home visits, including information about their education and career path.

Submission deadline is Dec. 19, 2018. Please review the author guidelines before submitting.
