For parents, the birth of a child represents the end of one experience, and also the beginning of another. Entry into the childrearing stage of parenthood represents a fundamental shift in family structure and family dynamics.

To better understand this experience, the annual publication, Contemporary Perspectives in Family Research (CFPR) seeks manuscripts on the theme of “Transitions into Parenthood: Childbearing, Childrearing, and the Changing Nature of Parenting” for its 2019 volume. 

Possible topics include: employment and fertility, socioeconomic status and parenting styles, childbearing desires versus childbearing outcomes, the social media construction of parenthood, predictors of fertility preferences, the social construction of parenthood through consumption practices, gender differences in childrearing, infertility and fertility clinics, migration and fertility patterns, parental discipline and child outcomes, and non-parental childrearing, among others.

From the editors:

"We are interested in a wide variety of topics related to parenthood, and welcome submissions from across various methodologies. Understandably, there are many NCFR members whose research would be appropriate for inclusion in the volume."
