Member News: Hawkins Named Director, School of Family Life at BYU

Alan J. Hawkins, Ph.D., distinguished professor of family life, has been named the director of the School of Family Life at Brigham Young University (BYU) in Provo, Utah. Dr. Hawkins has taught at BYU since 1990. Previously, BYU awarded him as the Camilla E. Kimball Endowed Professor of Home and Family Life in 2014. His research focuses on Family Life Education and policy interventions to help couples form and sustain healthy marriages. He has written extensively on the role of fathers in child development, and the role of pre-marital education in lowering divorce rates.

At NCFR, Dr. Hawkins has been a frequent journal author and annual conference presenter. He has also served as a member of the editorial boards for the Journal of Marriage and Family and Family Relations: Interdisciplinary Journal of Applied Family Science.
