  Jennifer L. Kerpelman, Ph.D., (pictured, right) has been named the interim vice president for research at  Auburn University. Dr. Kerpelman is a professor and associate dean for research and graduate studies in the College of Human Sciences. She joined the university in 1999 as an associate professor and extension specialist. Dr. Kerpelman has become an accomplished researcher in the area of adolescent development, having authored numerous papers, book chapters, and refereed articles (including contributions in all three NCFR journals). At NCFR she recently completed a three-year term as member of the Board of Directors, and was named an NCFR Fellow in 2013. Read the full story.

• A study led by Ali Crandall, Ph.D., has been recently featured in many media outlets. Her research found a link between a mother's emotional control and her children's behavior. This article appears in the July issue of Family Relations: Interdisciplinary Journal of Applied Family Science (FR), and was published online May 31, 2018. • Erin Lavender-Stott, Ph.D., was interviewed by the Chronicle of Higher Education for a story on the pressure from potential employers to publish research prior to earning a doctorate. She has been especially prolific, as the author or co-author of five peer-reviewed articles and two book reviews in journals (including the Journal of Family Theory & Review and FR), as well as three book chapters. Congratulations to Dr. Lavender-Stott for earning her Ph.D. this spring from Virginia Tech on top of all this additional scholarly work. 

• Andrew J. Cherlin, Ph.D., was quoted in the New York Times for an article on how young adults are marrying later in life, yet also spending more time together in an unmarried relationship, according to a study conducted by online dating site, eHarmony. Dr. Cherlin refers to these postponed unions as “capstone marriages.” Dr. Cherlin is is the Benjamin H. Griswold III Professor of Public Policy, and chair of the Department of Sociology at Johns Hopkins University. He was named an NCFR Fellow in 2011, and will be a plenary speaker at the 2018 NCFR Annual Conference.
