Deborah Gentry, Ed.D., CFLE, wrapped up nine years in the role of NCFR Academic Program Review Liaison, by finalizing the approval of two new undergraduate programs for CFLE approval. Congratulations to the Human Development and Family Studies programs at Anderson University (South Carolina) and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

These universities join recently announced first-time approvals of programs at Brigham Young University–Idaho and Southern Utah University.

In addition, five programs (one graduate and four undergraduate) were renewed for another five years. The graduate program is Concordia University, St. Paul, Family Life Education, Online. Undergraduate programs include California State University – Sacramento, Family Studies & Human Development, Florida State University, Family & Child Sciences Option, Queens College, Human Development & Family Science, and Western Michigan University, BS, Family & Child Development / BA, Youth & Community Development.

Nearly 130 degree programs at university and colleges throughout the United States and Canada have been CFLE-approved by NCFR.

NCFR, which administers the CFLE credential, recognizes regionally accredited schools offering undergraduate and graduate degree programs with course work that includes content covering the 10 Family Life Education content areas required for approval as a provisional CFLE. NCFR approval allows graduates of these programs the opportunity to apply for provisional CFLE certification without taking the CFLE exam.
