POSITION AVAILABILITY: The Department of Human Development and Family Studies (HDFS) in the College of Human Sciences at Auburn University invites applications for a nine-month, tenure-track Marriage and Family Therapy position in the fully COAMFTE accredited, terminal master’s program at the advanced assistant, associate, or full rank. RESPONSIBILITIES: Successful candidates are expected to maintain a productive, externally funded program of research and produce scholarly publications in their area of focus. In addition, responsibilities include graduate instruction, clinical supervision, and service assignments. We welcome applicants with family- or therapy-focused interests, broadly construed. Applicants at the advanced assistant rank must show high potential for, and attempts to secure, external funding. Applicants at the associate or full rank must show evidence of an established, active, and externally funded program of research.
THE DEPARTMENT: The Department includes 27 faculty members (21 full-time, tenure-track), 254 undergraduates, and 43 graduate students and offers undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral degrees. It also administers the Center for Health Ecology and Equity Research; the Auburn University Early Learning Center; the Harris Early Learning Center in Birmingham, AL; and the Auburn University Marriage and Family Therapy Center, which also houses the MS, Marriage and Family Therapy program. This MFT program is a full-time cohort model that accepts 6 students each year. Candidates whose research program complements the mission(s) of one or more of these Centers are strongly encouraged to apply. The department also has a strong interest in hiring faculty who have demonstrated commitment to diversity through lived experience, teaching proficiencies, and/or research interests.

Qualifications

Candidates must possess a Ph.D. in MFT or HDFS at the time of employment (if the latter, the applicant must have the MS in MFT), AAMFT approved supervisor status, and MFT licensure in Alabama or eligibility for licensure. Experience teaching core MFT courses and supervising clinical graduate students is required. The candidate must be fluent in English, must possess excellent written and interpersonal communication skills, and must meet eligibility requirements to work in the United States at the time the appointment is scheduled to begin and continue working legally for the proposed term of employment.
