The Department of Family Science, School of Public Health, University of Maryland, College Park seeks a full-time tenure track Assistant Professor in Couple and Family Therapy (CFT) to join a dynamic department with family science, maternal and child health, and couple and family therapy programs. Candidates should be able to (1) develop an externally funded research program, (2) teach and mentor undergraduate and graduate students, (3) be an active participant, with other CFT faculty, in the oversight and management of the CFT Program, and (4) play a central role in developing the Department’s research and service initiatives with community partners.

Appointments may begin in August 2020 or on a mutually agreed-upon date.

Qualifications

Candidates should hold a doctoral degree (Ph.D.) in Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT) or similar discipline, be a member of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT), and commit to obtaining licensure as a marriage and family therapist in Maryland. Additionally, candidates should be an Approved Supervisor or an Approved Supervisor Candidate. The ideal candidate must demonstrate a strong record of teaching and published academic research; a record of or strong potential to secure external funding to support research; and an expertise in developing collaborative research initiatives with community partners. As a program in the School of Public Health, we are particularly interested in candidates who can bridge couples and family therapy and family health and wellness.

The Department of Family Science offers a B.S. in Family Science, an M.S. in Couple and Family Therapy, and Ph.D. programs in Family Science and Maternal and Child Health. Salary Information
Salary, Rank, and Appointment Date: This is a 9-month tenure-track appointment; salary and rank are commensurate with qualifications. Funding is for 9 months annually, with the potential to extend salary support to 12 months with external funds.
