The Department of Applied Human Sciences, within the College of Health and Human Sciences, is currently seeking a 9-month, tenure-track Assistant/Associate Professor in Human Development and Family Science/Prevention Science to join their team in Fall 2023. Primary responsibilities include teaching courses in the Human Development and Family Science B.S. and Prevention Science M.S. and Ph.D. programs; mentoring graduate students; publishing in refereed scholarly journals; securing external grant funding; and providing service to the program, department, college, and university.


Minimum Requirements:

Ph.D. in Human Development and Family Science, Prevention Science, or a closely related field by August 2023

Demonstrated ability to lead an active program of research that has the potential to secure external funding, engage students, and produce high-impact publications

Commitment to excellence in teaching and mentoring undergraduate and graduate students

Expertise in quantitative methods

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

Record of research activity, publications, and external funding in the area of family stress, crisis, and/or trauma with an emphasis on prevention or intervention work in communities

Successful experience teaching undergraduate and/or graduate courses

Record of developing graduate students

Relevant professional experience working with community-based programs and/or initiatives

Experience with public/engaged scholarship

Experience with diverse populations, social justice, and/or evidence of cultural fluency

Other Requirements:

Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States at the time of employment

The Department of Applied Human Sciences consists of seven primary academic programs (Communication Sciences and Disorders, Conflict Resolution, Couple and Family Therapy, Early Childhood Education, Family and Consumer Sciences Education, Human Development and Family Science, and Integrative Human Sciences), as well as Cooperative Extension.
