The Department of Human Development and Family Studies (HDFS) in the College of Health and Human Development (CHHD) seeks applicants for a fixed-term, 48-week non-tenure track Assistant Teaching Professor position.

We are specifically seeking applicants with expertise in Applied/Professional/Direct Human Services, including but not limited to:

• social work/counseling
• community-based education
• human service programs
• Adult Development and Aging, including but not limited to adult development and aging in the context of families, social relationships, neighborhoods/ communities, and the larger cultural context

The successful candidate will bring knowledge, professionalism, enthusiasm and innovation to (and beyond) the undergraduate classroom. Primary appointment will be housed with the HDFS department at University Park, however, responsibilities will likely reach beyond University Park via online and/or web-based instruction and development (e.g. World Campus).

Experience with in-residence instruction and online course design and instruction is preferred.

Specific competencies critical to success include:

• excellent verbal and written communication skills
• team-oriented, collaborative approach
• ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• ability to work with traditional and non-traditional students and students from diverse students
• knowledge of innovative, best instructional practices and pedagogy

Full-time instructor load is three courses/sections per semester (Fall, Spring, and Summer), with no more than 9 courses/sections annually. Semester-load, however, will be determined in balance with other assignments related to strategic efforts to enhance HDFS undergraduate programming (e.g. the development of new courses, designing new approaches to existing courses, and/or helping grow or revise HDFS web-based offerings).

Position requires a Doctoral degree in Human Development and Family Studies, Psychology, or a related field (e.g. Sociology, Education, Social Work).
