The School of Child and Family Sciences at the University of Southern Mississippi invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position for the academic year 2023-2024. Primary responsibility is teaching in the COAMFTE accredited Marriage and Family Therapy Master of Science Program. Located within the College of Education and Human Sciences, the school offers a Bachelor of Science degree in Child and Family Sciences with two emphases: family science and child development. Completers of the child development emphasis are prepared to seek a five-year educator license (PreK-K) in the state of Mississippi. The American Association for Family and Consumer Sciences accredits the undergraduate program. In addition to the MFT MS program, the school offers a Master of Science in Child and Family Sciences. Both the CFSBS and the CFSMS are CFLE-Approved programs through the National Council on Family Relations. The School has two auxiliary units, the NAEYC Accredited Center for Child Development and the Center for Family Therapy.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
1. Teach graduate level courses in marriage and family therapy, and related graduate and
undergraduate courses within the school
2. Teach face-to-face and online courses
3. Supervise practicum and internship
4. Mentor graduate students
5. Publish in scholarly journals
6. Secure external funding
7. Contribute to the mission of the school, college, and university through service activities
8. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

1. An earned doctorate in Marriage and Family Therapy or closely related field.
2. Licensed or license eligible as an LMFT in Mississippi.
3. Evidence of successful teaching experience.
4. Evidence of strong research skills and aligned scholarship or demonstrated potential for
developing a scholarly research program.

Preferred Qualifications
1. Experience and training in addiction and trauma.
2. Experience and training in assessment and diagnosis.
3. Credentialed as an AAMFT Approved Supervisor.
