The Department of Human Services, Human Development and Family Science program at the University of Central Missouri invites applications for one assistant professor position 997301 in the Marriage and Family Therapy, Human Development and Family Science graduate and undergraduate program.
Responsibilities
Teach graduate and undergraduate courses in Marriage and Family Therapy and Human Development and Family Science. The position involves scholarly activity and professional service to the program, school, university, and professional organizations. Scholarly activity, such as presentations, grants, and publications, is necessary for promotion and tenure. Summer teaching opportunities may be available. The position has clinical supervision responsibilities, including advisement, recruitment, and networking with professionals in the field. Preferred candidate will have the ability to utilize technology and teach online courses.

Qualifications

An earned doctorate in Marriage and Family Therapy, Couple Counseling, Human Development, Family Studies or related field preferred at time of hire (ABD considered with degree conferred no later than August 2, 2024). Applicant must hold a license to practice MFT and be an approved supervisor with AAMFT. Preference may be given to candidates with teaching experience, MFT program development, and/or clinic management. Candidates should provide evidence of developing a program of research, demonstrated effectiveness in teaching, and engagement in service/outreach; ability to advance program’s commitment to diversity; excellent team collaboration skills, competency in instructional technology, and excellent oral and written communication skills.

Organization Summary

The UCM Child and Family Development program offers a Bachelor of Science in Child and Family Development and a Master of Science in Human Development and Family Sciences with an accelerated one-year program in HDFS and a two-year marriage and family therapy option. The program serves clients from the University, Warrensburg, and surrounding communities through the Central Missouri Center for Individual, Couple, and Family Therapy, located on campus. The MFT faculty are currently preparing the self-study for submission to the Commission on Accreditation for Marriage and Family Therapy Education. Additionally, on-campus clinical training is supplemented by a variety of off-campus clinical opportunities.

Child and Family Development is located in the Harmon College of Business and Professional Studies School of Human Services.
