The College of Education and Social Services at the University of Vermont seeks applicants for a full-time, nine-month, tenure-track position in the area of Human Development and Family Studies (HDFS) beginning in Fall, 2022. The successful candidate will maintain an active research agenda, a strong record of peer-reviewed scholarship, and extramural support from relevant federal agencies and foundations. The occupant of this position will teach predominantly in the College’s HDFS Undergraduate program and should demonstrate strong skills in teaching and advising undergraduate students. We invite applications at the rank of Assistant/Associate professor. Responsibilities:
The successful candidate at the Assistant/Associate level will assume a range of responsibilities that include:
-Maintaining an active research agenda, securing extramural funding, and publishing results in peer-reviewed journals;
-Teaching and advising undergraduate students in the HDFS program and graduate students in other programs in the department as assigned;
-Collaborating with department faculty and staff in departmental governance, program development, scholarship and service;
-Serving as an active member of relevant scholarly societies and/or professional associations;.
-Engaging in service and outreach activities at the college, university, regional, state, national and international levels; and.
-For the associate professor position, a record of publication and external grant funding commensurate with rank and sufficient for tenure at UVM. Additionally, the successful candidate at the Associate level may also be expected to coordinate key activities within the HDFS program, including oversight of curriculum; student recruitment, admissions, and advising; and budget preparation and administration as appropriate for the associate professor position.

Anticipated starting date is August 22, 2022.

Qualifications

-Doctoral degree in Human Development and Family Sciences or a related field;
-Demonstrated commitment to diversity and social justice and experience working with culturally and linguistically diverse populations;
-Strong collegial, communication, and collaborative teamwork skills;
-Evidence of effective teaching at the undergraduate and graduate level sufficient for tenure at UVM;
-Record of publication commensurate with rank and, for the Associate Professor position, sufficient for tenure at UVM;
-For the Associate Professor position, a record of external grant funding commensurate with rank and sufficient for tenure at UVM; and
-For the Associate Professor position, preference will be given to candidates with two years in rank at the level of Associate Professor and at least one year of relevant, successful administrative/leadership experience such as Program Coordinator or Director.

The Department
The Department of Leadership and Developmental Sciences. The Department practices pedagogy that is grounded in culturally responsive social justice principles of expanding access to services, promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion, and examining pathways to interrupting systemic barriers to positive development and healthy relationships. At the undergraduate level, we offer a program in Human Development and Family Studies, and our CACREP Accredited master’s degree programs include School Counseling and Clinical Mental Health Counseling Programs, including a dual option.
