Abstract(s)
A Family-Centered Health Impact Analysis of Three Violence/Trauma Policies
Presented by: Allison Schroeder, Elaine Anderson, Deirdre Quinn, Towanda Street
This symposium provides a family-centered health impact analysis of three policies designed to address the consequences of violence and trauma. The papers — The Child Abuse Prevention and Treatment Act: A Family Health Analysis; The Violence Against Women Act: A Family-Centered Health Analysis; and the Strengthening Our Military Families: A Family-Centered Health Analysis — target unique populations with distinct strategies for addressing violence. Our analyses examine the contexts in which the policy developed, the scope of the problem, the effects on vulnerable, minority, or marginalized families, and make recommendations for strengthening the policy to reduce family risk and promote resilience.
