This presentation will highlight research on spiritual behaviors and beliefs about family life that can function as resources and risk factors across diverse families and religious communities. This session will be live streamed.

This symposium investigates these issues in hopes of reframing the narrative in research on people of color to focus on the critical influence of skin tone on romantic relationships and family dynamics.

This session's five papers cover topics related to Advancing Family Science including child maltreatment; family illness, death, and bereavement; trauma-informed pedagogy; family crisis management; and applying observational methods to attachment theory.

This session's four papers cover fatherhood topics including the public child welfare system, couple relationship education, and how leisure influences U.S. Army personnel.

Lightning papers organized by the Ethnic Minorities Section. Topics include Parents’ Racial Socialization in Lesbian, Gay, and Heterosexual Adoptive Families; Placement Instability of American Indian Children in Long-Term Foster Care; Asian American Family Teachings on Race; and more.

This symposium examines these processes across five different intersections of queer families: stepfamilies headed by a gay male couple, interracial lesbian couple, parents with gender non-conforming youth, queers couples who adopt, and queer parents who used a known sperm donor.

This symposium is designed to examine how Family Life Education (FLE) is designed, delivered and practiced across the globe. First, the concept of “culture” will be re-examined, and then scholars from four distinct countries will each discuss the current state of FLE practices that exist within their borders.

This session's four papers cover topics including the study of same-sex couples, marriage, Russian couples satisfaction index, and Rasch modeling.

Symposium organized by the Research and Theory Section on aging. Topics include supporting young caregivers, patients with Huntington's disease, relationship quality, and parents' end-of-life planning.
