How Theory Construction Methods Have Shaped the Sourcebook Tradition
The presentation will provide an historical overview of family theory and methods with an emphasis on key events and participants, some aspects of which are not already widely known. The speaker's own experiences will be placed within the context of contributions by others.
Objectives
The objectives of this session are: (1) to demonstrate the effects of selected methodological strategies on the development of family theory, as exemplified by previous Sourcebooks; (2). to highlight crucial events and decisions that have both inspired and limited the development of family theory; and (3). to offer suggestions about how the current Sourcebook project and future efforts might advance the development and use of family theory.
