Summary
The purpose of this quantitative research is to investigate the major factors that affect the stress levels of single caregivers and their difficulties with their household budgets. This will be primarily accomplished by using Pearlin's Stress Process Model (Pearlin et al., 1990). The major findings from the research are summarized below: 1. The burden of care-related expenditures led to a negative perception of the household budget and increased psychological stress levels. 2.Characteristics of single men: An older caregiver caused a negative perception of the household budget; the presence of an older care recipient resulted in a positive perception of the household budget. 3. Characteristics of single women: Co-residence care improved the perception of the household budget; however, it increased psychological stress levels.
