Health & Safety

All in-person conference participants will be required to wear face masks in all conference-related event spaces. Masks may be removed at your own risk when speaking on stage or when eating and drinking. Masks must be high quality such as N95, KN95, KF94, or a 3-ply surgical mask.

NCFR will have a supply of masks available but suggests attendees come prepared with their own masks.

If you feel sick or have symptoms of a cold, flu, or COVID-19, please refrain from participating at in-person conference sessions. It is recommended to test yourself for COVID-19.

Accessibility

NCFR is committed to providing a safe and collegial meeting environment that fosters open dialogue and free expression of ideas without harassment, discrimination, and hostile conduct, as well as equal opportunity and treatment for all its conference participants. This same commitment is expected of all conference participants.

Please read the NCFR Annual Conference Code of Conduct and learn how to report harassment or unacceptable behavior that occurs at the conference.

In addition:

  • Captioning at Sessions: NCFR will offer live on-screen captioning at the 15 sessions scheduled for the large ballroom at the 2022 conference, provided by a captionist with expertise in captioning academic content. This is an expanded coverage from past years. Sponsored by the University of Auburn, Department of Human Development & Family Science.

  • "Speak Louder" Signs: All attendees will also be provided with handheld fans/signs to use in any session to indicate to a presenter to speak louder. Sponsored by the University of Auburn, Department of Human Development & Family Science.

  • Every academic session, regardless of the size of the room, will be equipped with a microphone and amplifying electronic speaker. In some cases, we will have multiple microphones for panel sessions. Presenters have been instructed that they may remove their face masks during presentations.

  • Clear facemasks designed to allow those with hearing loss to see the lips of speakers will be available for conference attendees. Presenters may remove their face mask during presentations to improve overall audio and support lip reading.

  • NCFR and the Minneapolis Hilton want to ensure that all individuals can participate fully in the NCFR conference. For needs related to guest accommodations, please contact the hotel directly at 612-376-1000.

  • NCFR can provide reasonable accommodations for disabilities for participation in conference sessions when you make a request in advance. It may not be possible to provide certain accommodations when requests are made at the conference. Neither NCFR nor hotel staff can provide personal assistance/aide services. Getting Around Downtown

Once you arrive at the Hilton, you can get around to nearby locations through public transportation, ride shares, or by foot. Much of downtown is connected by an indoor skyway that limits the need to walk outside.

Destinations near the Hilton include several restaurants and the downtown Target store (you'll have to walk outside about a block if coming from the hotel).
