The National Council on Family Relations (NCFR) is currently seeking 1 Practitioner Representative, 1 Employer Representative, and 1 Academic Representative to serve on the Certified Family Life Educator Advisory Board. The available positions are for three-year terms beginning January 1, 2024.

CFLE Advisory Board Mission Statement: 

To provide leadership for the ongoing development of the Certified Family Life Educator (CFLE) program as a method to advance and promote Family Life Education as an important and emerging profession. 

 

Position Description 

The CFLE Advisory Board consists of nine appointed voluntary members whose primary responsibility is to develop and implement policies regarding the promotion and advancement of the CFLE program. Each member serves a two to four-year term with a minimum of two members being replaced each year. Positions include Practitioner Representatives, Academic Representatives, a New Professional Representative, and an Employer Representative.

NCFR is currently seeking 1 Practitioner Representative1 Employer Representative, and 1 Academic Representative to serve on the Certified Family Life Educator Advisory Board. The available positions are for three-year terms beginning January 1, 2024. 

 

Qualifications: 

  • Current Certified Family Life Educator with Full status  

  • Active Certified Family Life Educator for at least five years  

  • Active NCFR member 

  • Demonstrated experience in Family Life Education (minimum three years) 

  • Willingness to review and decide upon any appeals submitted to the Advisory Board 

  • Practitioner Representative candidates must be actively practicing as a Family Life Educator outside of an academic setting. 

  • Employer Representative candidates must be in a leadership role in an employment setting that would benefit from hiring CFLEs.

  • Academic Representative candidates must be actively working as a Family Life Educator in an academic setting.  

 

Position Responsibilities: 

  • Participate in 4 to 5 virtual meetings (Zoom or Teams) and an optional onsite meeting at the NCFR Conference 

  • Participate in the timely review of CFLE scholarship and CFLE emeritus applications  

  • Participate in the timely review of FLE summit proposals & moderation of summit sessions 

  • Provide guidance to the NCFR staff in establishing policies and procedures 

The estimated time commitment is 15 to 20 hours per year
