MINNEAPOLIS — The National Council on Family Relations (NCFR) membership has elected Bethany Letiecq, Ph.D., as a new Member-at-Large on the NCFR Board of Directors. Dr. Letiecq is currently associate professor and director of human development and family science at George Mason University.
A member of NCFR for over 20 years, Dr. Letiecq is a past chair of the Family Policy section, secretary/treasurer of the Northwest Council on Family Relations, served on the NCFR's policy advisory staff committee, Ruth Jewson Award Committee, editorial board of Family Relations, and a reviewer for the Journal of Marriage and Family.
“I'll work with Board, staff, IDC, and section/FG leaders to address members' calls for a more proactive, justice-focused organization that leads on issues confronting families and family science. To grow, our organization must find its national voice as we translate family science to practice and policy. I have significant 501c3 nonprofit experience and expertise in policy education and advocacy. I can contribute to organizational governance, and with inputs from diverse perspective, will critically analyze the consequences of our engagement for the health of our organization, our members, and the families we serve.”
Dr. Letiecq and the other newly elected board members will assume their roles at the 2017 Annual Conference in Orlando, Florida, planned for Nov. 15 – 18.
