MINNEAPOLIS — The National Council on Family Relations (NCFR) membership has elected Brian G. Ogolsky, Ph.D., as a new Member-at-Large on the NCFR Board of Directors. Dr. Ogolsky is currently assistant professor of human development and family studies at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

A member of NCFR for 14 years, Dr. Ogolsky has been the secretary/treasurer and Students and New Professional representative of the Research and Theory section and the faculty adviser to the Illinois Student Council on Family Relations.

“NCFR has been my professional home for nearly 15 years. During this time I served the organization in many ways including, most recently (2011-2015), two back-to-back terms on the executive committee of the Research and Theory section. As our social and political climate continues to make rapid change, I believe the time for change in NCFR is now. It is time for our organization to adopt an active rather than reactive role in shaping the public discourse regarding the diversity of family forms, experiences, and needs. As a board member, I would pour my energy into facilitating this crucial change.”

Dr. Ogolsky and the other newly elected board members will assume their roles at the 2017 Annual Conference in Orlando, Florida, planned for Nov. 15 – 18.

The National Council on Family Relations is the premier professional association for the multidisciplinary understanding of families. NCFR has a membership of nearly 3,000 family researchers, practitioners and educators.
