Kamp Dush Receives Ohio State's Highest Teaching Award

NCFR member Claire M. Kamp Dush, Ph.D., was astonished during her own Family Development class, to receive the prestigious Alumni Award for Distinguished Teaching from Ohio State University. Dean Don Pope-Davis, Department of Human Sciences Chair Erik Porfeli, and Dr. Kamp Dush’s family and friends presented her the award in front of her students on Thursday, March 21.

“I’m surprised and honored,” the associate professor of human development and Family Science said. “My students are amazing and it’s an honor to teach them.”

NCFR member and Ohio State alumna Rachel Arocho, Ph.D., gave praise for her former graduate adviser, adding that Dr. Kamp Dush "is a role model I aspire to. I attribute my success in school and my ability to secure the wonderful job I have now to her mentorship and willingness to pour herself into her students.”

With this teaching award, Dr. Kamp Dush will be inducted into Ohio State’s Academy of Teaching later this year.
