  • Silvia Sara Canetto, Ph.D., is the 2018 recipient of the Denmark Reuder Award from the American Psychological Association. This award recognizes outstanding international contributions to the psychology of women and gender. She has mentored generations of students in international women and gender research, and inspired many of them to pursue international gender work. Her scholarship on cultural scripts of gender and suicide has been described as path breaking and transformative. Dr. Canetto is professor of psychology at Colorado State University. She has graduate degrees from the University of Padova, Italy, in physiological psychology; the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Israel, in general psychology; and Northwestern University, USA, in clinical psychology and gerontology.     NCFR Fellow Lawrence H. Ganong, Ph.D., has received the title of chancellor's professor and emeritus professor from the University of Missouri. Dr. Ganong has served as professor in the Department of Human Development and Family Science since 1990, and became the co-chair beginning in 2006 (along with Jean M. Ispa, Ph.D.). He has also served as a professor at the Sinclair School of Nursing , University of Missouri, and was the co-director of their doctorate and graduate programs from 1997 to 2001. In addition to being a prolific scholar and author of many books, journal articles, and book chapters, Dr. Ganong has been especially active at NCFR. He was a member-at-large of the NCFR Board of Directors, vice chair of the Families and Health Section, and vice president of the Missouri Council on Family Relations. NCFR member Christine M. Proulx, Ph.D., has been named the interim department chair, following Dr. Ganong's departure from the role.
