In Memoriam: F. Scott Christopher
NCFR member F. Scott Christopher, Ph.D., died on Feb. 7, 2018, at age 65. Dr. Christopher was born in Lincoln, Nebraska and received his doctorate in family and human development from Oregon State University. He was a professor at Arizona State University for over 32 years and a prolific scholar, publishing work in top family-related journals including the Journal of Marriage and Family on topics related to sexuality and marriage. He was also the author of To Dance the Dance: A Symbolic Interactional Exploration of Premarital Sexuality. At NCFR, Dr. Christopher served as the secretary/treasurer of the Research and Theory Section, and was a member of the journal advisory council for seven years. He was the 2012 recipient of the Best Abstract by an Student or New Professional Award from the Research and Theory Section.
Dr. Christopher is survived by his wife, Fonda Christopher, daughter Michaela Christopher, sister Sue Oltrogge and brother Michael Christopher. Services were held at Temple Emanuel with Rabbi Dean Shapiro officiating.
