In Memoriam: Florence Santa Lofaso Murray
Florence Santa Lofaso Murray, CFLE, passed away on March 25, 2023. She was an NCFR member for 19 years and a Certified Family Life Educator (CFLE) for 17 years.
Mrs. Murray earned a bachelor’s degree in family, child, and consumer sciences from Louisiana State University, where she was elected to the Golden Key National Honor Society. She also completed a 4-year certificate in ministry at the University of the South. Additionally, she obtained a teacher certification through Schreiner University.
It is apparent that Mrs. Murray was renowned for her indomitable spirit, leadership, and compassion for people. She identified needs and took an intentional approach to respond to them. As a case manager, she mentored pregnant teens, significantly impacting GED and high school completion rates. She provided anger management classes as well as life skills courses to the community. Mrs. Murray also taught child development and family life at a Texas high school. These are some of the many ways she contributed to Family Life Education.

Mrs. Murray will be recognized during the annual memorial service at the 2023 NCFR Annual Conference, along with the names of any NCFR members who have recently passed away.
