Richard L. Sale, Ph.D., died on May 16, 2022, at the age of 77. He was a NCFR member for 25 years.

Dr. Sale served as president of the Texas Council on Family Relations, a state affiliate of NCFR and the NCFR Affiliate Councils Board President from 2007-2009.

Dr. Sale earned his associate’s degree from Tyler Junior College, a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Houston, a Master of Divinity from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, and a doctorate at Texas Woman’s University in 1997.

Dr. Sale taught child and family studies in the Department of Human Sciences at Tarleton State University. At Tarleton, Dr. Sale received the May Jones Advisor of the Year Award in 2000, which recognizes the countless extra hours faculty spend helping student organizations be successful. Dr. Sale was the sponsor of the newly charted Kappa Omicron Nu that year.
