Longtime NCFR member Kay Buttleman Forest, Ph.D., passed away on Aug. 19, 2014, in DeKalb, Illinois, at age 67.

Dr. Forest was involved with NCFR's Feminism and Family Studies Section, including early on as a Student/Young Professionals representative for the section in the late 1980s.

She had retired from Northern Illinois University in 2008, where she had worked in the Department of Sociology and taught mostly about family, gender, sexuality, race, ethnicity, and other forms of inequality.
