The Journal of Family Theory & Review (JFTR) publishes original contributions in all areas of family theory, including advancing theories through critical and metatheoretical projects, and comprehensive reviews of literature and media.

The March 2019 issue (Volume 11, Issue 1) is now free and open to the public. It is a special issue centered on family policy, guest-edited by NCFR members Karen Bogenschneider, Ph.D., and Shelley M. MacDermid Wadsworth, Ph.D., CFLE.

The editors invited thought leaders on family policy to contribute "innovative ideas that address incisive questions about the next frontier of family policy." Each perspective on research and theory was intentionally paired with additional perspectives on policy expertise and experience. In addition to articles by researchers who have worked in policy, three policymakers (one Democrat and two Republicans ) were invited to write commentaries.

This issue also marks the beginning of new JFTR Editor Mark A. Fine, Ph.D., who has penned an editorial on his goals for the future of this journal.
