Parents and teachers everywhere become quite accustomed to hearing the words "It's not fair!" From an early age, children have an intuitive sense of what they perceive as justice, but their grasp on this concept is not full developed. 

A third-grade teacher named Aimee went viral on TikTok for describing fairness to her students using Band-aids. "Fair doesn't mean everyone gets the same thing," Aimee says in the video. "Fair means that everyone gets what they need to be successful."

In a follow up post, Aimee explains that this was really a lesson on equity, and that she used the phrasing of fair/not fair because it was the terminology that the children used.
