With this excellent book, Weber has filled a void in the field of family science. This is essentially a rich, dense and very well-done textbook examining preventive methods for family and individual stress or crisis situations.

Abbie E. Goldberg's Lesbian and Gay Parents and Their Children is a comprehensive overview of research and themes in this field. The book is a first of its kind; though several shorter works have provided brief research summaries, this book provides a thorough overview, and does so utilizing a life cycle approach that may be particularly useful to family life educators.

A few years ago I read Larry Steinberg's The 10 Basic Principles of Good Parenting. The presentation in both his book and video is professional, pleasant, and informative. Yet I was disappointed with the book in many of the same ways that I was disappointed with the video.

And to date, very little research centers on, or is inclusive of, the experiences of transgender youth.
