Dr. Katherine Richardson Bruna at Iowa State University is seeking a Postdoctoral Research Associate for the Career and College Readiness Curriculum Initiative.

The Postdoctoral Research Associate will help lead further design, dissemination, and evaluation of ¡Salir Adelante!, a newly developed family- and strengths-based bilingual curriculum developed by Iowa State University Extension and Outreach to promote career and college readiness among Latinx families in Iowa.

Postdoctoral Research Activities will include: curriculum modifications as needed; training for ISU Extension and Outreach staff and community partners towards curricular implementation; and assistance with research design to assess educational impact.

This is a one year term position. Position may be extended if additional funding is secured. All accrued vacation must be used during term of appointment or will be forfeited.

Qualifications

Required Minimum Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in a social sciences field related to human development, family studies, and/or education.

  • Demonstrated ability to work successfully both independently and in group settings.

  • Understanding of mixed-methods research.

  • Experience in community-based education, outreach, or research involving culturally- and linguistically-diverse youth and families.

  • Bilingual Spanish-English proficiency.

  • Ability to travel to different sites across the state.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Theoretical and methodological familiarity with sociocultural theories of teaching and learning.

  • Interpersonal skills that facilitate interaction and collaboration with Latinx youth and families, as well as with community-based organizations and university extension and outreach staff who serve Latinx youth and families.

  • Valid driver's license.
