The School of Aging Studies at the University of South Florida invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position available beginning in August 2019, who will be appointed to a 9 month contract. We seek researchers from broad research areas related to aging that complement the existing strengths in the School of Aging Studies which are: Aging and Health; Cognitive Aging and Alzheimer's Disease; Aging and Mental Health; and Public Policy and Long-Term Care. We have a particular emphasis on applied research that is aimed at improving clinical practice, public policy, and the well-being of older adults and their families.
The position requires an earned doctorate from an accredited university in Gerontology/Aging Studies or a related field, to be completed by the time of the appointment. Candidates should have a track record of peer-reviewed publications and potential for external funding.
A demonstrated record of: 1. Ability to collaborate with interdisciplinary researchers on applied aging topics and 2. Experience and excellence in teaching, including undergraduate and graduate teaching and mentoring graduate and PhD students.

The School of Aging Studies has 10 highly productive faculty with an excellent record of high-impact publications and research funding. The School has a very strong history of successfully mentoring and tenuring junior faculty. The School offers four degrees: the BS in Aging Sciences; BS in Long-term Care Administration; MA in Gerontology; and the PhD in Aging Studies. The School of Aging Studies, which includes the Florida Policy Exchange Center on Aging, has been described by the USF President as “one of our top priorities and is one of the University of South Florida’s beacons of excellence.”
