Publications

NCFR publishes three international scholarly journals—Journal of Marriage and Family; Family Relations: Interdisciplinary Journal of Applied Family Studies;  and Journal of Family Theory & Review. We also produce other publications and products to support the work of family professionals.

NCFR is the sponsor of the journals and, as such, our journals implement NCFR's policies related to inclusiveness and diversity as documented in the NCFR Bylaws, Article XIV.

The Journal of Marriage & Family

The leading research journal in the family field and has been so for over 70 years. JMF is consistently the most highly cited journal in family studies. JMF features original research and theory, research interpretation and reviews, and critical discussion concerning all aspects of marriage, other forms of close relationships, and families. The Journal also publishes book reviews.

Journal of Family Theory & Review

The Journal specializes in publishing original contributions in all areas of family theory, integrative and theory based reviews of content areas, book reviews and review essays. The Journal does not publish empirical reports with the exception of meta analysis of content areas.
