NCFR Recognizes Haley Sherman for Outstanding Leadership

The National Council on Family Relations (NCFR) proudly recognizes Haley Sherman, M.S., CFLE, as the 2023 recipient of the Cindy Winter Scholarship, which is given to a student or new professional who has demonstrated outstanding leadership and service in the discipline of Family Science. This award recognizes Cindy Winter, NCFR Conference Director from 1964-2007.

Ms. Sherman (she/her) is a doctoral candidate at Auburn University studying human development and Family Science. Her membership to NCFR began in 2018 and since, she has been engaged at the university, regional, and national level. Ms. Sherman will assume the role of chair-elect of the NCFR Religion, Spirituality, and Family Section following the 2023 NCFR Annual Conference. She currently serves as the secretary/treasurer of the same section. 

In addition to her leadership with NCFR, Ms. Sherman has maintained steady engagement, and more recently, leadership within the Southeast Council of Family Relations (SECFR), moving from graduate student advisor to media and publications presiding officer, and more recently, to president- elect. Ms. Sherman has also supported her department’s graduate student organization as secretary and treasurer. “Serving on boards and committees has been hugely impactful to my development as a person and scholar,” Ms. Sherman said recently. She added, “I have thoroughly enjoyed my time serving NCFR, SECFR, and the GSO at Auburn University, and like Cindy Winter it is my hope that I continue to serve for many years to come.” 

NCFR is pleased to present this award to Haley Sherman for her dedication, leadership, and service to NCFR. 

Ms. Sherman will be recognized for his achievements during a plenary at the 2023 NCFR Annual Conference.
