  • James J. Ponzetti, Jr., Ph.D., CFLE has edited an interdisciplinary series of textbooks focused on evidenced-based practice in family life education. The three books, published by Routledge, include Evidence-based Approaches to Relationship and Marriage Education, Evidence-based Approaches to Sexuality Education, A Global Perspective, and Evidence-based Parenting Education, A Global Perspective.
  • Francesca Adler-Baeder, Ph.D., CFLE, professor and extension specialist in the Department of Human Development and Family Studies at Auburn University was recognized as an NCFR Fellow for her exceptional record of grant procurement (well over $20 million); her development, delivery, and evaluation of programs to enhance family relationships – especially her efforts targeting young parents, people of color, and low risk families – and her mentoring of future leaders in the field of family science. Congratulations Francesca!
  • The Family Services undergraduate program in the Department of Family and Consumer Sciences at Eastern Illinois University is the newest Certified Family Life Educator (CFLE) approved program.
  • There currently are more than 130 university and colleges throughout the United States and Canada that offer degree programs that have been approved by NCFR as meeting the criteria for the provisional CFLE credential.
  • Six CFLEs ran for leadership positions in the recent NCFR Election. Wm. Michael Fleming, Ph.D., and Stephan M. Wilson, Ph.D., ran for NCFR Board Member-at-Large, Katie Barrow, Ph.D., for Students and New Professionals Program Representative, Dorothy Rombo, Ph.D., for Elections Council, Ronald Sabatelli, for Fellows Committee and Christopher Belous, Ph.D., for Inclusion and Diversity Committee Board Member-at-Large. The election closing date is March 1.
  • Glen Palm, Ph.D., CFLE, and other members of the Minnesota Fathers & Families Network have published a new version of The Daddy Book. A Workbook to Guide New Fathers through the Important Stages of Infant Development. The book, which has been published under several names and versions as far back as the late 1990's, was updated to reflect current research and issues relevant to fathers. It is available as a PDF and print copies can be ordered.
