The BS degree program in family and human development focuses on contemporary issues in society and how they impact children and families.

Required courses give students the opportunity to learn about the stages of human development through the lifespan and specialize in particular stages (i.e., infancy, adolescence, aging). Students gain a deep understanding of the complicated dynamics of human relationships in families, workplaces and communities.

Students can build on the foundational knowledge of development and relationships in the required core courses by taking elective courses that provide a specialized skill set. Students also may choose to participate in learning experiences outside of the classroom, including working in the Child Development Lab, working as a research assistant, and doing an internship. Proficiency in written communication, research methodology and data analysis are also gained in this family and human development program.
