Attachment, Neurodevelopment and Psychopathology Conference
The University of Iowa Center for Disabilities and Development will host a three-day course covering the development, prevention, and treatment of psychological disorder. The program covers development from infancy to adulthood, emphasizing the process of adaptation and developmental pathways that carry risk for psychopathology. This course is designed for professionals who work with at-risk children and families such as therapists, social workers, teachers, psychologists, and Family Life Educators.
Featured speaker Patricia M. Crittenden, Ph.D., will lead participants using the Dynamic-Maturational Model (DMM) of attachment and adaptation that she developed. The DMM model is relevant to individuals who have been exposed to danger, display disturbed or maladaptive behavior, or are diagnosed as having a psychiatric disorder. A particular emphasis is cultural influences on attachment.
