The Victim/Witness Division of the County of Maui will host a Child and Adult Mental Health Training. This training is intended for Victim/Witness staff, community mental health workers, and Maui Police officers in working with clients who have mental health issues and trauma.

Presenters: Kenneth Fields, M.A., LMHC with Bud Bowles, M.S.W., Director, United Self Help

The morning program on Children's Mental Health and Trauma will begin with understanding communication and mental health of youth with methods for clear and non-threatening communication. Next, an overview of children/youth mental health needs with diagnoses will follow. The youth piece will conclude with how to respond to trauma and suicide with youth.

Adult mental health in the afternoon will begin with a talk on "How to Stay Mentally Healthy" (Re: mental health workers/professionals as well as their clients' needs) and conclude with a talk on PTSD and Trauma.

Approved for 4 hours of CFLE continuing education credit.
