Integrating Healthy Relationship Education Skills into Social Services

This course covers seven key aspects of healthy relationships that interconnect with self-sufficiency and well-being. It is divided into seven chapters, with each chapter including tips, techniques, and resources to equip stakeholders in integrating healthy relationship skill development into existing social services. The seven chapters in this course are:

  • Chapter 1. Care for Self: Being Physically and Mentally Healthy
  • Chapter 2. Getting to Know Partners Well
  • Chapter 3. Nurturing the Relationship
  • Chapter 4. Showing Affection and Respect
  • Chapter 5. Developing and Maintaining Friendship
  • Chapter 6. Dealing with Differences in Healthy Ways
  • Chapter 7. Engaging in a Positive Social Network
Objectives:
  • understand seven key healthy marriage and relationship principles and skills;
  • know the research-based benefits of these skills for families; and
  • apply the principles during client and family interactions as a holistic approach to supporting families.
Target Audience:

Administrators, supervisors, and providers of safety-net services (i.e., governmental programs and agencies such as Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), child support, child welfare, labor and workforce services, Head Start, military community and family services, education, youth independent living, Tribal services).
