Judith Myers-Walls selected as editor of NCFR Report Family Focus

MINNEAPOLIS — The National Council on Family Relations (NCFR) announces that Judith A. Myers-Walls, Ph.D., CFLE, has been selected as the editor of the Family Focus section of NCFR's quarterly member magazine, NCFR Report. Family Focus features magazine-style articles that highlight family-related research and implications for practice and policy within a different theme for each issue.

Dr. Myers-Walls, an NCFR Fellow, is professor emerita of human development and family studies at Purdue University. Her research interests are parenthood, parenting education and family life education, the cultural context of children and families, and peace education and the impact of war and peace on children and families. Her faculty and Extension experience spanned 30 years, and she is the current education director for OnlineParentingPrograms.com.

Dr. Myers-Walls is on the editorial boards of NCFR's Journal of Marriage and Family and Journal of Family Theory & Review; is a reviewer for all three NCFR journals; and has received several NCFR awards in addition to achieving Fellow status. She also has served as a reviewer for several other journals and was co-editor of the book Families as Educators for Global Citizenship.

An important aspect of Family Focus is to translate research-based information for the public, and Dr. Myers-Walls will excel in managing the publication to this end.

"Judy has a solid, established record of accomplishment in academia, research, and application, and an impressive record of writing and editing translational materials," said Jennifer Crosswhite, Ph.D., CFLE, NCFR's director of public affairs. "She clearly understands the focus and direction of the Family Focus section."
