Hair Love is a 2019 animated short film that tells the story of an African American father learning to do his daughter’s hair for the first time. It won Best Animated Short Film at the 92nd Academy Awards and can be watched below in its entirety.

Director Matthew A. Cherry has stated that the inspiration for Hair Love was to increase positive representations of Black fathers in media and to also normalize Black hair.
