POSITION: Assistant professor of Human Development and Family Science, College of Health and Human Sciences, Florida State University. This is a 9-month tenure-track position.
RESPONSIBILITIES: The position requires that the candidate conduct quality research attractive to external funders, provide excellent teaching at the graduate and undergraduate levels, mentor graduate students, and provide service to the University and the profession.

THE DEPARTMENT: The Department of Human Development and Family Science currently has 18 faculty, 442 undergraduate students, and 47 Masters/Ph.D. students. Our programs focus on child development, family processes, and relationship interventions. Specifically, our research, teaching, and service activities reflect our three program foci: Relational development and enhancement in children, young adults, couples, and families; distressed children and families and relational interventions; and the link between relationship (parenting, peer, romantic) processes and relational and mental health outcomes. In addition to our undergraduate program offered in both traditional and online formats, we offer a master’s program and two doctoral degree programs, one in Human Development and Family Science (HDFS) and one in Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT). THE COLLEGE OF HEALTH AND HUMAN SCIENCES, which began in 1905, is the flagship program in Health and Human Sciences in Florida. The college’s mission is to address global challenges and opportunities related to the physical, behavioral, and economic factors influencing the health and development of individuals, families, and communities. The College is comprised of two departments, the Department of Nutrition and Integrative Physiology and the Department of Human Development and Family Science. QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants should have the following qualification: earned doctorate in Human Development and Family Science or related field. Candidates are expected to have a focused program of research addressing healthy relationships or health and well-being throughout the life span. Candidates are also expected to have evidence of success in, or the promise of, securing external funding for their research.
