Abstract(s)
Undergraduate Speed Mentoring and Group Mentoring Workshop
The Speed Mentoring session at the annual NCFR conference has steadily evolved since its inception in 2009. Participant feedback along with current research in this field continues to inform successive and successful iterations of the workshop. Proposed changes for this year focus on earlier pairing of mentors and mentees interests by identifying two tracks, Graduate School and Career Trek, to create two separate simultaneous speed mentoring circles, and two group mentoring sessions occurring at the end of the workshop. It is anticipated that participants will experience richer mentoring by matching mentees interests with mentors expertise earlier in the event.
Objectives
Match undergraduates with mentors in their projected field of work. Apply principles of speed dating to a professional mentoring setting. Facilitate career enhancing, meaningful interactions between mentors and mentees.
