Summary
Conflicts over a romantic partner's use of pornography has been identified as a common presenting problem in relational therapy. The purpose of the present study is to examine participants' perception of their partners' pornography use and their own self-esteem. Results of the hierarchal multiple regression indicate a significant negative relationship between perceptions of partners' pornography use and self-esteem after controlling for gender, length of relationship, age, education, social economic status. Marriage and family therapists are uniquely equipped to address and treat the varying and systemic influence pornography use may have on couple functioning and wellbeing.
