Poster Session 3: Undergraduate Students Education

Summary
This academic program provides a broad-based education for careers addressing problems and risks in the lives of children, youth, and families.With many graduates entering human services professions, we undertook a curriculum review process focused on preparing graduates for this complex field.We describe the steps, report the outcomes, discuss the effectiveness of this process, and open discussion by offering recommendations for other family science programs to consider. These discussions are critical for ensuring that programs provide the necessary education and experiences to prepare graduates for the field of human services informed by national standards for human services education. The process we used provides a model for including input from multiple stakeholder sources representing various perspectives and could be adopted by other programs.

Objectives
-- Describe the deliberative process that this department used to evaluate the strengths and gaps in its curriculum based on multiple stakeholders-- alumni, community employers, and faculty--and the outcomes of this process.
-- Offer recommendations for other departments undertaking curriculum review process.
-- Begin a discussion on what other departments and faculty are doing in this area and solicit feedback.
