Call for Papers: Understanding Contemporary Family Issues in South Korea

The Journal of Comparative Family Studies (JCFS) invites manuscripts for a special issue to be published in 2021. The theme of issue is ‘Understanding Contemporary Family Issues in South Korea.’

The purpose of this special issue is to explore contemporary family issues in South Korea using the two major national datasets: Korean Longitudinal Study of Aging (KloSA) and Panel Study on Korean Children (PSKC). The special issue aims to honor the first special session offered by the Korean Families Focus Group at the 2019 NCFR Annual Conference. Therefore, authors are welcome to use additional Korean national data sets if needed, but the priority will be given to those who use KlosA and/or PSKC as their main data sets of analyses.

This special issue also aims to provide a timely opportunity to develop strong evidence-based family policies and practice to strengthen healthy families in South Korea. Therefore, authors must explicitly and concretely discuss how the data can contribute to develop family policies and practice to promote the diversity in contemporary families in relation to family structures, forms, relationships, (in)equalities, cultures, and other pertinent issues in South Korea.

It is required that at least one author per manuscript must be a Ph.D. holder.
