CFLE Scholarship

(For first-time applicants)

The Certified Family Life Educator (CFLE) Scholarship fund was created to provide financial assistance to first time CFLE applications.

One-time scholarships are awarded to up to four applicants each year. The quarterly application deadlines are: Jan. 15, April 15, July 15, and Oct. 15. Please wait to submit your CFLE application until you have been notified of the results of your scholarship application. 

 

CFLE Scholarship Criteria

Applicants must have:

• Minimum of a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution
• Training, education, and/or experience in Family Life Education
• Ability to articulate a need for financial assistance from NCFR

Submissions will be evaluated based on the applicant’s ability to:

• Demonstrate a solid understanding of Family Life Education (FLE)
• Clearly articulate how their FLE experiences related to two or more FLE content areas
• Communicate the value of the CFLE credential to their ability to successfully practice as a Family Life Educator
• Articulate how they will make a contribution to FLE in the next five years
• Provide responses that are coherent, organized, and free of grammatical and/or spelling errors

How to Apply

To apply for assistance, you must fill out the application webform, which requires the following information:

1. Name and contact information
2. Current educational and employment information
3. Statement providing the following information (maximum 250 words per question):
   • How have your experiences (i.e., work, volunteer, internship, training, professional development, education) related to or involved Family Life Education? Specify relevance to at least two, and no more than four, Family Life Education content areas and elaborate on how your work/education involves the content areas you have identified.
   • How would earning the CFLE credential enhance your ability to practice Family Life Education?
   • How do you see yourself supporting the practice of Family Life Education in the next 5 years?
   • This is a needs-based scholarship. Please provide a description of your situation and why it warrants financial assistance.

 

Applications will be reviewed by a sub-committee of the CFLE Advisory Board. • You must be an active CFLE at the time of application, with Provisional or Full status
• You must have met all other CFLE requirements including submission of any recertification or upgrade materials and payment of fees currently due
• You must be able to articulate a need for financial assistance from NCFR
