Joanne A. Roberts Elected NCFR Affiliate Councils President-Elect
SAINT PAUL, MINNESOTA — The National Council on Family Relations’ (NCFR) membership has elected Joanne A. Roberts, Ph.D., CFLE, as the new president-elect of the Affiliate Councils Board, NCFR’s governing body for local/regional chapters. Dr. Roberts is the professor and chair of the Department of Sociology at Hardin Simmons University. In this position, she will also serve as the Affiliate Councils representative on the NCFR Board of Directors.
Dr. Roberts has been an NCFR member for 23 years and has served as program chair of the Affiliate Councils Board, chair of the Religion, Spirituality, and Family Section, and president of the Texas Council of Family Relations.
“I believe that affiliates are in the best position to promote Family Life Education and the CFLE [credential] in their areas,” Dr. Roberts wrote in her candidate statement. “I would like to share our experiences with interested affiliates to not only better inform policymakers but to create job pathways for our professionals and students.”
Dr. Roberts and the other newly elected board members will assume their roles at the 2019 NCFR Annual Conference in Fort Worth, Texas, planned for Nov. 20-23.
