Janis L. Henderson, Ph.D.

SAINT PAUL, MINNESOTA — The National Council on Family Relations (NCFR) is pleased to announce that member Janis Henderson, Ph.D., has accepted the new position of webinar coordinator. Dr. Henderson will help NCFR expand its webinar programming for family scholars and practitioners.

Dr. Henderson is an experienced community educator and consultant, and an academic instructor. She earned her master’s and doctoral degrees in Human Development and Family Science from Texas Tech University, where she also specialized in curricula development. Dr. Henderson has served in various leadership roles at NCFR including chair of the American Indian/Native American/Indigenous People’s Focus Group, president of the Texas Council on Family Relations (TxCFR), and conference program chair for the Affiliate Councils Board. She is also a recipient of the Affiliate Councils Meritorious Service Award, the TxCFR Lane Powell Mentorship Award, and the TxCFR Moore-Bowman Award.

Dr. Henderson’s background in Family Science, working as both a community practitioner and as an academician, is an asset to this position, as is her history as an NCFR member. Her engagement with students, affiliates, and fellow NCFR members has granted her a deep understanding of the organization and the membership’s needs related to education, theory, policy, cultural competence, and practice. NCFR looks forward to Dr. Henderson’s contributions to the webinar program.

NCFR expresses sincere gratitude to Claire Kimberly, Ph.D., CFLE, who has served in the webinar coordinator role since 2018. Dr. Kimberly has been instrumental in recruiting Family Science subject matter experts, and successfully growing the number of webinars and topics over the past six years.

Members and CFLEs are encouraged to share their ideas and feedback about how NCFR can best use the webinar program to meet their needs. What topics do you want to hear about? Would you be interested in presenting a webinar through NCFR? Please email [email protected] to share your thoughts and ideas.

As a reminder, NCFR members and CFLEs receive a discount on all NCFR webinars, as well as free access one year after the webinar’s live debut. NCFR webinars are also great to use in your classroom or with your organization’s employees. The classroom/organizational license request form can be found here. NCFR looks forward to engaging with you educationally this year!
